Issues and Challenges Involved in Multipath Routing with Dymo Protocol

چکیده
A mobile ad-hoc network (MANET) is a wireless network in which nodes, in the absence of fixed access points, communicate via single or multi-hop paths. Each node in a MANET should thus be able to perform necessary routing functions, and a MANET routing protocol should be able to adapt fast and effectively to sudden changes in network layout. Multipath routing allows the establishment of multiple paths between a single source and single destination node, the knowledge of alternate paths allows to reduce the frequency of route discovery in the presence of link failures. It is typically proposed in order to increase the reliability of data transmission (i.e., fault tolerance) or to provide load balancing. Load balancing is of special importance in MANETs because of the limited bandwidth between the nodes. . Providing trustworthy quality of service guarantees in a MANET is very challenging due to the dynamic and uncertain nature of these networks. We propose to extend DYMO routing protocol for MANETs to a multi-path protocol which uses delay, traffic load etc instead of hop count, as metric for route selection.

In recent years, routing has been the most focused area in ad hoc networks research. On-demand routing in particular, is widely developed in bandwidth constrained mobile wireless ad hoc networks because of its effectiveness and efficiency. Most proposed on-demand routing protocols are built and relied on single route for each data session. Whenever there is a link disconnection on the active ro...

An important and essential issue for mobile ad-hoc networks (MANETs) is routing protocol design i.e. a major technical challenge due to the dynamism of the network. The work of this paper is inspired by the thought of taking account of several factors in wireless mobile ad-hoc networks (MANETs) routing design in a unified way. The rational of our inspiration is that most of the enhancements in ...

Multipath routing is a technique that allows tra c dispersion and so, through the use of load-balancing, nodes energy consumption minimization or analysis for tra c prevention, it is capable to improve performance in mobile ad hoc networks. In this work we compare multipath version for two reactive protocols: DYMO and DSR. We study the impact of tra c dispersion on both UDP and TCP tra c. Moreo...

Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) consist of densely deployed sensor nodes, which have limited computational capabilities, power supply, and communication bandwidth. To ensure reliability in delivering the sensing data through a large field of sensors remains a research challenge. The multipath routing technique is one of the best solution to this which can enforce network robustness in case of n...

Abstract. Mobile Ad Hoc Networks (MANETs) have evolved in the last years into standards in the communication world. By definition, they do not need any network infrastructure to ensure communication between the nodes. Therefore, they are dealing with new challenges in the context of ad hoc routing. This paper deals with our new implementation of the routing protocol Dynamic MANET On Demand (DYM...
